For us, it all started the summer of 1992 in California on Venice Beach. One of the many booths providing information that summer was a group from Amsterdam who had samples of hemp cloth, hemp paper and hemp seed. We had been looking for a vegetable protein source for years and had never really been able to find one that worked. Soy is too hard to digest and is difficult to eat regularly. Many of the other options on the market were virtually unpalatable. Hemp seed was the solution. The perfect source of protein for vegans and vegetarians or anyone who would like to supplement they’re intake of digestible proteins. Understanding that hemp seed is an excellent source of protein and the most digestible form is just the tip of the iceberg.
In our over processed diet we are all lacking Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) and since they are an essential nutrient, and something our bodies cannot produce. There are many different possible ways to get EFAs but many of the sources have their own issues. Flax is a bad balance and contains too much Omega 3. Soybean has too much Omega 6. No seed has a perfect balance of EFAs, except of course for hemp. Hemp seed is nature’s perfect superfood.
Over the last 15 years, we have fed hemp food to tens of thousands of people and in the tradition of spreading hemp seed food to the masses, we are proud to provide The Hemp Cookbook – Hemp Recipes For Everyday Use.
